This special work is a self-portrait with my two daughters, created August 2022, and has been curated into the exhibition "Free Bodies" by @Simeonvanderhoeven and @imagenationparis

“Where I go to be closer to you”⁣

Created for the B-Side artists’ community collection “Portuguese Sea”, featuring artworks by 27 international artists all interpreting the poem “Portuguese Sea” by the poet Fernando Pessoa.

Artist statement:
“Living on a small island in the Baltic Sea for the last eight years, I have come to deeply love the ocean and it's many moods. Surrounded by people with a long maritime history, I have learned to have enormous respect and compassion for the people who roam the sea and the ones who stay behind.

This melancholic longing and unity with the water was what immediately resonated with me in Fernando Pessoa's poem "Portuguese Sea" and which became the main inspiration for my work. The lives and loves dependent on and ever interconnected with the sea...”

Introducing my new work 🖤🍂

“Tvillingernes Ursang / Twins’ kulning”

In waters deep, primordial womb,
Twin souls emerged, two lives in bloom.
Their naked bodies raw and pure,
Of foetal bonds’ connection sure.

In birth as one, then torn apart,
Yet still connected heart to heart.
In currents' dance they flow and glide,
Reflected, strengthened, side by side.

Amidst the waves that crash and roar,
Their spirits rise, connect and soar.
With every ebb, with every flow,
Together they endure, they grow.

For in the depths of ancient sea,
Two souls entwined, in symphony.
Their strength united, ever long,
Twin spirits, powerful and strong.

This work was a crazy stretching of my own limits, as I ended up almost drowning myself in the process and had to call my husband to help me home 🥵 The things we do for our art!!

But I’m incredibly happy and proud of the result, which just goes to show that going outside comfort zones is always worth it ❤️‍🔥

About the title: *kulning (pronounced “cool-ning”) is an old Nordic herding song which was used to call and keep contact across large distances.

“Tvillingernes Ursang” will be part of the INSPIRE art exhibition at Langelinie Pavilion, Copenhagen tomorrow as part of Nordic Blockchain Conference 2023 @nordicblockchain
