Documentarian 1 – Emerging voices in documentary photography

The first exhibition of my cancer treatment project “1 in 8” during Copenhagen Photo Festival 2025 was received so incredibly well, with lots of questions, tears, and deep talks – my heart is happy and full!

I’m incredibly grateful to Luke Adekoya and Dark Gallery for having me be part of this inaugural Documentarian show!

About ‘Documentarian 1: Emerging Voices in Documentary Photography’
[ CPF X DARK GALLERY CPH · DOCUMENTARIAN 1 · GROUP SHOW ]
In an era where the boundaries between truth and fiction are increasingly blurred, the exhibition ‘Documentarian 1’ at Dark Gallery highlights the enduring significance of photography in shaping historical consciousness.
Bringing together six emerging photographers from around the world, Documentarian 1 explores how the documentary image can serve as a deeply personal, cultural, and political tool. Curated by Luke Adekoya Campbell, the exhibition challenges the idea of documentary as a fixed record of truth—instead presenting it as a fluid, subjective medium shaped through both the act of making and the act of seeing.
The exhibition features the work of Colin Aherne, Marta Dias, Anna Mensing, Gilberto Zamorano, Maria Fynsk Norup and Lidewij Mulder, inviting viewers to engage with photography’s evolving role in witnessing and storytelling in an age of digital manipulation and media saturation.
The exhibition is part of CPF X – The Copenhagen Photo Festival Partner Programme presenting exhibitions and events at partner venues and collaborators throughout Copenhagen.
The exhibition will be on view from June 7 to June 22 2025 at Dark Gallery CPH, Ryesgade 103B, 2100 Copenhagen Ø.
