Fickle-minded April..

Spring seems to be holding its breath right now…. in our garden the hyacinths and magnolias are flowering, the rowan has unfolded its leaves and the apples and pears are just about to pop. But April is and has always been a fickle-minded month. This year “Sometimes it snows in April” has been quoted a gazillion times when Prince all too suddenly left us – but it has also been a year where it has rung very true. Grey skies hang low these days, and snow and sleet keeps falling at odd hours…

Still a garden newbie, I cross my fingers that the plants survive, and do my best to enjoy the beauty of the greyscale palette against the wild prune flowers and the steely ocean colours. Quite pretty! But spring – please do return with more sun and the promise of tea breaks on the terrasse <3 Do you get snow in April too? Best tips for surviving? And how much can the plants cope with before it damages the fruiting season? [ PS: The video above is made for week 3 of Xanthe Berkeley’s Make Films course. Both video and photos are shot with Sony a7ii ]
